THE ARCHIVE OPENS
An invitation into the world of 1816.
Alistair Veil is an enigmatic contemporary composer whose musical world draws inspiration from Gothic Romanticism and the haunting atmosphere of 1816 — the Year Without a Summer.
Conceived as a fictional archive of forgotten compositions and mysterious fragments, the project brings together atmospheric storytelling, dark musical expression, and collaborations with international musicians.
This official Alistair Veil press kit provides biographical information, release details, recording credits, visual materials, and press contact information.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
“Some stories are written in ink. Others are preserved in silence.” — Alistair Veil
At the heart of Alistair Veil lies an artistic vision shaped by Gothic Romanticism, forgotten manuscripts, and the haunting legacy of 1816 — the Year Without a Summer.
Rather than following the conventions of a traditional musical project, Alistair Veil has constructed an elaborate fictional universe in which compositions emerge as fragments of a lost archive. Within this imagined history, the remnants of the Alateen estate, the Silent Order, and the mysterious events of 1816 provide the narrative foundations for a body of music suspended between memory and myth.
Yet beneath the archival imagery lies a contemporary musical undertaking, shaped through collaboration with accomplished international artists.
The project’s debut single, The Footprints in the Snow, was released on September 30, 2026, introducing the first chapter of the forthcoming chronicle What the Moon Brings.
The recording features the distinctive guitar work of Andy LaRocque, renowned for his longstanding association with King Diamond, alongside vocalist Tom Bedlam, guitarist, bassist and producer Seba Castillo, and drummer Marco Rovinelli.
Its visual identity is further enriched by original artwork from Luiz Rosa, while the official lyric video was created by Wiz.
Through music, visual symbolism, and carefully constructed storytelling, Alistair Veil invites listeners into a world where historical imagination and contemporary artistic expression converge.
The composer’s personal identity remains deliberately undisclosed, allowing the music and its fictional universe to occupy the foreground.
“The notes are but the frame; the canvas is the silence.” — Alistair Veil
